Misquoted
In my recent posting on Dave Shaver, I said that uncontrollable and irrational anger, at least in my experience, is a common symptom of what is commonly termed bipolar disorder.
I did not say that Dave has this disorder, or that he suffers from uncontrollable and irrational anger. As I think I made clear in my posting, I have not spoken with Dave since well before his recent divorce. In any case, I am not qualified to make such diagnoses.
I think I should make another correction: Dave has not caused a split among his supporters. To the contrary, we remain committed to the policy of managed growth that has been Dave's hallmark. Should Dave choose to step aside, others are ready to step into the gap and continue Dave's policy. We will not miss a beat, and we are united.
Whatever happens, I believe you are right in your view that Dave will always be remembered for helping all of us reclaim control of our community, and begin planning our common future. Many of us, however, would prefer that Dave remain in place, if he is able and if that is the right thing for him to do at this time of his life.
We also want Dave to know that, whatever his recent problems, he is among friends, who are grateful for his leadership, will always remain his friends, and are eager to give Dave and his family whatever help and support they need at this difficult time in their lives.
