It seems that this website is a great forum to attack public officials annonymously.
If a community wants to fix it's government it has several choices available. Be vocal & critical at a City Council, Township Trustee or School Board meeting. Change will only come about if citizens are active in the pursuit of betterment of their community.
Like it or not Mayor Shaver took a step that none of you have taken & led the citizens of Pickerington to take back their city and begin what will be a very long process of trying to slow growth. For that I thank him and am thankful that men like him will step up & not hide inside their homes waiting for someone else to do the hard work it takes to make a place we want to call home.
There are a few things that the city can do to slow growth - demand that better, more expensive homes be built & that they are not crammed onto lots that promote high density. They have done that.
I would not for anything go back to the way it was in Pickerington & shiver to think what our schools would be burdened with, knowing even now they have not begun to catch up to the growth boon that occured in late 1999.
People elected or not should never stop trying to make Pickeirngton a better place. It's where we live, where our kids go to school and where are families are day in and day out.
Instead of continually taking pot shots why not try to improve the community? Volunteer at a school, serve on a committee for the City. Do something that will make the Pickerington of today a better place tomorrow.
I would love to sign my posting but I've learned one thing here. Never, never, sign your name. People that are highly critical like to sit back and be that Monday morning quarterback. Come on guys if these issues are so important let's see some skin in the game.
