Hey Roman
Roman,
If you are a frequent reader of this forum, you certainly must understand the consequences of posting your name in here. I am glad you realize at least the necessity for new leadership in the city. Right now the city is not moving forward ?– it is standing still. The mayor has deadlocked any potential process in his ongoing efforts to make sure every darned one of us fully realize the power he wields. He wants no mistakes made in our understanding of who runs this place. Certainly the $100,000 per year city manager we hired is totally and completely ineffectual. She is not permitted to do what council hired her to do and that is be in charge. I suppose she is in perpetual fear of the mayor firing her if he again slips into one of his episodes. So now the question I ask any councilmen reading this forum is who is running the city and who is the ceremonial head? I think it is backwards right now. I think we?’re paying $100,000 per year for a ceremonial head and $12,000 per year for a manager. I challenge the mayor to do his part to reduce costs to the taxpayer and let the $100,000 employee go and instead save us $88,000 per year and you run it, officially. I hear you have control over the votes on the rules commission so getting a change to the city charter through should be a snap. Roman, I am not afraid to sign my name but I won?’t in the event that you are not who you say you are. Unless you want me to make one up to add validity to my posting, I?’ll pass. As evidenced in other postings anyone can enter whatever name they want. I can sign this with the mayor?’s name or type up a long message stating how depressed I am and that you should overlook any behavioral issues and lack of leadership I demonstrate because you have to feel sorry for me because I was forthcoming in disclosing what I decided to tell you is my illness. After all, aren?’t we all more enlightened these days and less judgmental? Haven?’t we seen the outpouring of sympathy already because I said I was only depressed. If I am preemptive in disclosing a medical condition that I can say millions of people suffer with, how can you treat me as unable to do my job? Aren?’t there plenty of people in leadership positions who suffer with depression but medication keeps us functional? As long as I don?’t forget to take my meds, I am fine, right? After all, I am just running a city, not piloting your airplane or operating on your brain. Let?’s keep things in perspective. If I forget to take my meds for a couple of weeks what harm can there be? Only the city will suffer, not a planeload of innocents or someone ending up a comatose invalid, right. Roman, I applaud you signing a name to your posting if you are who you say you are. Hopefully you won?’t be recognized by the mayor?’s character assassination squad and assailed for weeks to come on this site. I hope you take an active role in making the changes that are necessary to get this city moving forward again. We?’ll keep trying in our own little anonymous ways here. It worked to get rid to the trash at city hall a few years ago and it can work again.
