If not there, then where?

Posted in: PATA
We don't want an office complex next to houses off of Writght Road because it's next to homes.
If not there, then where?

We don't want the buses at the schools because of traffic, fumes, congestion, etc. -- BUT we don't want them too far away.
If not there, then where?

We don't want commercial development next to commercial devopment (Walmart next to Kroger's) because it is too close to the schools, we don't have the infrastructure, it will bring crime, etc.
If not there, then where?

We don't want to pay more for schools, but have to because there is no commercial development.

Where is our commercial park? Where is our commercial zone? Where do we want businesses to build? Should we build houses where the business want to build instead?

There is no perfect solution -- we have homes EVERYWHERE. Someone tell me where it is that you want the commercial deveopment to go, not just where you don't want it to go.

If Walmart wants in so bad, they'll be willing to pony up to improve the infrastructure. They'll be willing to do things right.

Let's figure out how to make it work, rather than list all of the reasons that it won't work.

Point of clarification?

Offices next to houses off Wright Road? Indeed a good location. Soon to have good access. Closed evenings, weekends and holidays. Clean and well-maintained. Will have landscaping and grass mowing contractors. Actually I guarantee this development will far outshine the Maronda crap adjacent to it. It is the commercial developer that should worry about declining property values sitting next to a Maronda development.

Soon Diley will have its fair share of Walgreen?’s, CVS, Drug Marts, Super Americas and all. Why? Because everyone told the trustees we want commercial development. Most of the undeveloped land along Diley is in the township. Big difference between this area and Wal-Mart. This area already has the infrastructure improvements, or will in the next couple of years. Should it be developed with a CVS right next to Fox Glen? Damn straight! We want commercial and not residential. Sorry for your luck residents of Fox Glen.

Where is our commercial park you ask? Well open your eyes. It has begun with this Big Box development. What stand in the way of continued commercial expansion North, east and south? Some corn or soybeans?

You?’re right. We have houses everywhere. If we want commercial, it will have to be wedged in between the residential developments. Thank Joyce, Randy, Lou, Terry, Harry and Gary for that.

Wal-Mart will never have to pony up for anything. Once this is rezoned, nothing will stand in their way. If the roads aren?’t improved in a couple of years by the county, they?’ll just close the store. No skin off their nose. They?’re rich, remember. Read that Sprawl-burbia crap. They?’re closing as many as they?’re opening every day. They don?’t care. They?’re rich and hopefully the Shaverettes mentioned in another posting get rich with them. Maybe them they?’ll leave.

How to make it work you ask?

Tough it out or move.

one good thing

One good thing in all of this, we are not sheep...we stand up for what we believe, and damn it if we are persistant, things will get better.

thank you to all of those hundreds who turned out to express your opinion last night.

so where?

ok, you don't want it where ''they'' want it...

what's your proposed solution?

where should the commercial development that we all want and need go?

where should the school bus barn go?
