Phone Calls

Posted in: PATA
I received a phone call last night concerning the rezoning of the area near Pickerington North High School. The call was essentially a phone screen asking if I knew aboout the issue and encouraging me to attend the meeting to speak out against the rezoning.

I'm curious, how many PATA readers got the same phone call? The opposition to this rezoning seems to be pretty organized.

Coyote,

You seem like a pretty smart person. Put two and two together, the trustees will rezone this property to commercial regardless of any opposition. Their reasons are twofold.

First they have heard for years that residents want commercial instead of residential. Boom ?– they got it. The trustees don?’t give a crap about infrastructure improvements or any potential negative ramifications of the decision. It?’s not their problem, it?’s the county?’s. No matter what the opposition says, the trustees will say that this is what you asked for ?– now shut up.

Second, consider the political connection between these trustees and the Shaver regime. Shaver touts JEDDS and CEDAS and other supposed economic cooperation. Same rule applies here. He will support it because this is what the residents asked for ?– cooperation. It simply doesn?’t matter if it is a losing proposition for the city and the residents and will cost much more than it earns. It?’s what you asked for ?– now shut up.

Consider the political bedfellows at play here. Take Shaver, Fix, Riggs and Smith. They are in total cahoots with these good old boy trustees just like the city manager and township director are in lockstep. Political favors must be repaid and this is a payment. Their cahoots do not involve prosperity of the community. They revolve around prosperity of the ?“team?”.

Certainly you must understand that ODOT WILL move the SR33 interchange from Pickerington Road to Allen Road solely because of the dreaded Wal-Mart located 5 mile or more away. (Yeah right) Certainly you understand the financial rewards for moving this interchange. (For a select few) Yes, yes, it is most certainly a financial and political decision.

Consider that there is no downside in this rezoning for Wal-Mart or the three acres on Wright Road. When it goes wrong and when the city has to suffer, there?’s always Hackworth and Wisniewski to blame. Damn them for putting the welfare of the community first!

This is in no way a business decision facing the trustees and the Shaverettes (although I think they?’re all Shaverettes), this is a political decision and a financial decision for the team, not the community.

One last thing Coyote, look at some of the information links provided in earlier postings about Wal-Mart. Once this rezoning is approved, nothing, I repeat NOTHING will stop Wal-Mart. They will build what they want, where they want and when they want. They can?’t be defeated by a bunch of hilbillys like Pickerington has to offer.

And yes, I received a call and hung up on them.

Common thread

Oh wait, don?’t forget our illustrious school board. Don?’t forget the close political ties of Fix and Reade. I?’ll be a dollar that the school board (more Shaverettes) comes out in support of these ?“economic cooperations?” and the trustees and council will come out in support of the bond levy. Neither government has any business coming out in support of any school levies.

Give me a break. Let me list some names and you tell me their one common tie:

Shaver
Fix
Riggs
Smith
Dunlap
Myers
Wetlich
Reade
Brink
Oakes

Come on, there?’s one single common political thread running through all these names. Name it and you?’ll start to see why things are going the way they are. You?’ll see why favors must be repaid. You?’ll see why the names above can be grouped together as The Shaverettes. None will defy him. He is their leader.

All hail Shaver.

Long live the King!
