Thanks Mr Blackwell!

Posted in: PATA
Once again, Blackwell proves our arguement for us. Do you recall the posting we placed on this site discussing the stock purchase of Debold voting machines? Now it would seem that Ken ''Gambling is bad'' Blackwell owns stock in the company that makes slot machines!!

Come on, Mouse... we know you're out there reading this. Call us names and tell us that we're wrong about Blackwell again.

I wish to make you aware that in November I'll be back on this website to say...

If you insist

1. If you idiot dems will go look you'll see I'm on your side. I don't care one wit for Mr Blackwell. He has proven himself incapable of higher office and it's time we sent him back to starve in the private sector.

2. I would do more to oppose him but why bother? I'm not allowed to vote!! Like most people in Ohio and the country at large, I'm neither a Republican nor a Democrat. I have no representative to speak for me, no candidate is sharing my views is allowed to run in Ohio and the primaries are closed to me. Can you say ''disenfranchised''? I didn't think so, but we'll work on it.

3. It's frustrating when I agree with you and you still don't get it. Oh well, maybe in my next life.

Money where his mouth isn't

I see again this morning in the Dispatch that J. Kenneth ''pro-life'' Blackwell owns stock in a company that makes the abortion pill.

His campaign manager then says that they refuse to respond to the Dispatch because the Dispatch is unfair. Lets see we have the Secretary of State for Ohio who by the way is responsible for over seeing that these campaign finance reports that are filed by the candidates now is complaining that the Dispatch is reporting on these public records.

In addition and as we all learned last week the SOS has stock in the company that built the new voter machines that Blackwell insisted on every county in the State have. Another duty of the SOS is to be the custodian of the ethics reports all elected officials in the state file I think once a year. One of the first things you learn about ethics is perception of your actions on the outside world. I am sure the SOS has people out teaching ethics and I am sure they have preached that to everyone they come in contact with. Yet for some reason our SOS didn't get the word. and he also didn't review his portfolio until the weekend just prior to filing his disclosure forms.

For those that want to view Blackwell as the anti-Taft then for one moment look at the value of the golf outings that Taft received over a number of years. Granted those free golf trips will not make Taft rich but it was the perception that he was wined and dined and then his host was rewarded with huge state contracts. Also keep in mind that Taft was not convicted of accepting these trips but he was convicted of NOT REPORTING them. More than likely those charges would have originated from the SOS office.

Then our great SOS then suggests that he will put his stock into a blind trust. Wasn't the idea of the financial disclosures to the SOS office to make sure our office holders in the state did not have outside influences when spending the tax payers money? So the incompetent staff or campaign chairman wants to now hide his holdings from the public.

A couple of years ago J. Kenneth was behind the effort to circulate a petition state wide to make an amendment to the Ohio constitution and limit government spending at all levels. This effort did receive enough signatures to place the issue on the ballot in November. Even now with all of the criticism on the proposed amendment he refuses to back down. To limit local government spending to only a 3.5 % increase is not a very well thought out policy. In light of all of the run away spending going on at the state limiting spending proposal sounds good until you take some time to think it through. Clearly we have had times of inflation like in the Jimmy Carter era. and I believe the interest rates and inflation rates were both in the double digit levels for a number of years. If there was no growth in a community or school district then the teachers and the budget could only get increases of 3.5% despite inflation that may be 7 or 8%.

Once this is passed we will never be able to amend it or rescind it because in J. Kenneth's wisdom he has required in our state constitution that 51% of the registered voters must approve the measure.

I think we should thank the Dispatch for their reporting. Clearly Mr. Blackwell is not the anti-Taft as he claims but a clone of Taft and his bungling.

As a Republican I do not think Blackwell is fit to serve as SOS let alone Governor.
