One of my kids goes to Lakeview. He tells me that the school's server crashed and that the grades for the most recent perid have been ''lost'' and cannot be recovered. One of his teachers is giving everyone an ''A'' up to this point and is going forward. Another teacher is saying that if you don't have proff of the grade you received on the test/assignment (i.e. you held onto the paper and turn it back in) then you get a ''0'' for that grade.

Has anyone else heard this?
Does this impact only Lakeview?
Why was there not a nightly back up of the server?
Why is there not a uniform way that the shcool is handling the situation instead of each teacher doing their own thing?
And most important - will anyone lose their job over this screw up?

This is crazy

I think this is bogus, these teachers fill out interims by hand then enter them, they have a written record as well or should have. Interims are supposed to come out today, not report cards, maybe your son does not want to bring his home. My son has said nothing about this.

Mine is straight 'A'' student... I've heard the same story from other parents.

I asked

He told me that this is true but there is somebody recovering the data...his math teacher had paper records too... Apparently only students who are in academic danger, will get interims this week until the data recovery is complete.

btw, why does everyone expect somebody to be fired when there is a mistake...what happened to second chances and learning from mistakes?
