They should carry guns

Posted in: PATA
I would suggest that the township trustees all start carrying guns. This would at least lend some credibility to their threats that the city cooperate or else regarding the development along Wright Rd. Who do these guys think they are? And who do they think that they're kidding with that ''we need the tax dollars'' sob story.

Tell it like it is Mr Dunlap... this is nothing more than a blanket threat that you can point to and say that the City of Pickerington won't cooperate in future development. Does anyone honestly believe that the tax base of slightly over 3 acres will either make or break Violet Township? I must commend the trustees for their placement of a seemingly trained chimp named Shaver down at city hall. He's certainly well on board with this township plan. Clearly he has forgotten what position he was elected for. Tell me, does he ask how high when the township trustees tell him to jump?

Also, someone please tell me that Jeff Fix did not really say that he is in favor of this development because it needs to start somewhere. Please, please, please... he cannot be that stupid.

What will go there instead?

I guess the same logic can be used for the thousands of houses that sit on Diley Road. Did the former Council think they had to start somewhere? Was that a good reason?

I think office space is better than a fast food restaurant or a gas station.

Is the ''construction'' of the office buildings really any worse than the years of construction we have listened to from Maronda? Or any other new develooment? The Sheffield residents are worried about construction interrupting their life styles - I don't think the developer is going to stop constructing those houses until they are all built - what's the difference?
Excellent poiont

You're absolutley correct... I don't believe that there is a difference. Maronda builds junk homes with the cheapest material available along Diley Rd and they likely will not stop until all lots are sold. These homes were plotted to close to the road in disregard of a planned Diley Rd expansion. However, they city has taken steps to slow them to a crawl with impact fees.

Two questions...
1 - Why does anything need to go into this three acre tract of land? Have the home owners coordinate an effort to pool resources to buy this land an turn it into green space. Everyone is happy, the property is sold and the home owners don't have noise, light and materials to contend with.

2 - The trustees and Shaver are selling us a bill of goods with their tale of offices on this site. What offices are going to go into a 3 acre site at the corner of Wright and a soon to be five lane Diley Rd? It'll be a gas station or a McDonalds or some other eye sore.

Friend of mine said....

My neighbor works somewhere in the city and said that Maronda has purchased all the building permits necessary to build out all their subdivisions in order to beat the home builders design standards the city enacted but the city manager failed to put in place in time to make Maronda finish their developments with quality houses and let them put up the same old junk.

THANKS JUDI! You are certainly a welcome addition to our city.
