Could someone tell me why high school students are required to turn in their books the week before finals and study exclusively from study guides? With the exception of a language course, my child had to turn in all text books last week. Exams are today, tomorrow and Wednesday. The material they had to prepare for finals was study guides and notes.

What exactly is the point of not allowing students to study from books in preparation of final exams? Is this how all school districts conduct their finals?

my guess is that it allows the teachers to do whatever admin work they need to do to account for the books and not have to work extra/late.

any teachers out there care to chime in?

My kids at Central turn in their books as they take their finals. They do nothave to turn them in any earlier.
