They are not required but it is used as a source for discussion. My kid actually was the one who turned me on to this site. Remember Randy Hughes is a high school teacher and there are Postages teaching there.
You don't need to tell me how to parent when it comes to computer access. Me and NetNanny are handling it quite well and I agree about the language in the hallways. We can't insulate our kids from everything but I appreciate the web master acting responsibly in this case.

I didn't see the offensive posting, so I can't comment on whether or not I would have removed it also. I can say that I respect your decision, as following your conscience is sometimes the hardest thing to do.
Sometimes peer pressure can have a positive influence on people, and in this case the poster may think twice before posting something off-color.
This website has a long history of challenging people's perceptions, and I can only imagine having a post deleted for impropriety may be a humbling experience.
I was one of the people who questioned your decision to remain anonymous. I can now see the genius in that. I imagine the postings might have become a little more personal, and less about the actual decision, if we knew who you are.

Don't be so sure
All your child has to do is a search with ''How to disable Net Nanny:'' or any other baby sitting software and your efforts to use a program to prevent them from accessing any site are out the window. I think the best way, which in fact quite a few software reviewers suggest, to monitor kids internet usage is to do random ''fly-bys'' to see what they are looking at. I was debating over the choices in software limiting/monitoring tools and decided to take this approach instead. My kids know Mom or Dad will drop in at any time and see what they are looking at along with checking the ''History'' and we've had no problems.
