Dems are welcome

Wasn't saying the Dems aren't welcome - I'd welcome any with open arms. The Republicans are divided - but splitting the city into wards will allow certain groups to almost certaintly hold certain seats without challenge.

We don't need to have certain politicians holding onto seats for years on end because someone in their district is too lazy to challenge them.

At-large for the entire city allows anyone to challenge everyone, not just small segments.

I'm sure the NW club will put together a fine line-up of candidates....

Not to confuse with the line up of republicans in washington, Tom Delay, Duke Cunningham, Scooter et al.

Welcome mat for Dems?

I've put partisanship aside in the local elections here. Tried to pick the best candidate for my economic interest, and the good of the community. I feel like I've been fairly well served by the City government elected to slow growth, Ted and Brian especially.

I'd like it if a known democrat would run for a local non-partisan race. Probably get accused of using out of state money to run god out of town.

We should all be ashamed of ourselves if we place partisanship ahead of the good of the state and the people. It's time to examine what the ruling party has really done, put aside the rhetoric.

They have raised taxes, shifting it from the most wealthy to the rest of us. They've made church and hate the most important issues, while the education funding is ignored, and the ecomomy sinks.

Beware of the welcome mat, there is a hole under it.
