profitting off of schools, etc.
Many area businesses ''give back to the community'' by donating money to local groups/causes. Many area landowners/developers have donated money and/or land to the schools, parks, etc. It's not unheard of around here.
If you're suggesting that the farmers donate some of their profits, realized upon selling their acreage, to the schools, why not individual homeowners as well? If property values have increased due to excellent school ratings, infrastructure, etc., why not expect some of these gains to be donated back to the schools, parks, etc.?
I agree that farming is a business and many sell off to support themselves as they retire. While a land donation to the schools would be nice, not turning their acreage into hundreds of homes would be just as valuable to the schools, at least in my book.
