Disappointed
I am extremely disappointed by this news. I was one of the many who weren?’t necessarily opposed to a big box project but was adamantly opposed to Wal-Mart being a part of it. I am a snob you say? Maybe.
I?’ll take a Home Depot or Lowes or Target or Andersons any day over Wal-Mart or 600 houses. If you look at peak times for the establishments I mentioned, they conflict less with school peak times that a Wal-Mart would.
Anyway, I didn?’t come here to debate the subject. It has been beaten to death. The roads and other infrastructure will still have to be improved regardless of what you put out there. Even the bus garage alone should be driving some noticeable improvements.
I think the opposition to this rezoning have cut off their noses to spit their faces. Hopefully, although I doubt it will ever be so, the trustees have learned to put the horse before the cart and make investments in infrastructure improvements in the areas designated as potential big box or other commercial development BEFORE they come to us with these plans.
Or maybe Postage, Hughes, Parker, Bushman and the others were right all along. Annex the crap out of everything!
