Finally the reporting on this issue has been more to provide controversy than to look at what I am telling these reporters. Both reporters knew this was not what I was proposing but something I was looking at. The one I told was a non story but they printed it anyway.
On the positive side it is a very complicated issue to deal with and in a continuing effort to improve our commercial tax base I will continue to look at ways to accomplish a better system to tax and pay for our services. I think the more we look at this objectively and listen to what I am or will be proposing in a few months you all might think of it much differently than how you view it today.
So the question you all should ask yourselves if the township needs a municipality to partner with them in a JEDD so that they can collect income taxes to provide services to the JEDD area why is it so much different to try to work with the township to shift some of that property tax burden in the city over more income based taxes?
