i heard from my kid that one of Pick Norths star football players switched schools to Central this week because Central is much better team & he would have more exposure
Is that allowed to happen mid season?
Even if is is ''permitted'', is this ethical? The kid -- a sophomore -- can be excused for the lack of integirty because he is a kid, but how about the parents?
What are your thoughts?

cash versus trash
I have been wondering when this would happen. Over the last two years I have attended both schools to watch the football games. Clearly the facilities at North are much better in size and parking convenience. The parking lot at Central fills up very quickly and if you show up late you need to walk a piece on the road way.
Both last year and this year I have seen a far more superior football team and band at Central. A couple of weeks ago we were at North and you could hardly hear the North Band they were simply flat. The opposing band was much better.
In comparison, the Central Band looked better and they seemed to have more spirit in their performance.
As for the Football team you could see a more disciplined team and you could see a lot of team work being displayed. It always make me respect a team that has those skilled positions blocking.
I couldn't see much difference in the student behavior but I did hear a parent sitting behind me threaten to spank her daughter for being disruptive at central. I didn't see that at North in fact a young father allowed his kindergarten age child (boy) to hit him. That is the wrong message to be sending to this child if he feels free to hit his father he certainly will not hesitate to slug a teacher in 5 or 6 years.
I think over all that Central does have a better handle on discipline whether it is the parents in that district or the school administration I am not sure. I can see it in the general behavior of those attending the games.
I will tell you that strong discipline relates directly to good grades and good academic performance. I doubt the school board or the school administration would be willing to make public the individual school records on tests scores and other data related to the over all academic performance of the two schools. I believe we got hint of that a few months ago with a new program at North.
Despite all of the money our taxpayers put into North it apparently didn't result in a better over all educational experience for the children of this district.

Test Scores are public record
North & Central's individual High School ratings are public record & available to anyone at the Ohio Department of Education's website. For that matter every school in the State of Ohio is available.
Just take a look.
Both high schools received an excellent rating last year.

Interesting
If Central is that much better, does this ''star'' kid think that he'll stand out as much? Vanity is my favorite sin - especially when it makes people do such obviously stupid things.
Central's got a solid, core team. They probably won't like any new kid, much less a Panther, trying to showboat.
Student athletes need to be students first, athletes second.
