School student growth

Posted in: PATA
I am hearing rumors that the school board has finally figured out that a lot of the growth in the school district is actually coming from the older neighborhoods where the empty nesters have moved out and the children have moved in.

I wonder who the boogie man will be this fall when the bond levy hits the ballot? Will they acknowledge this publicly or will they still bash the Township and the City of Pickerington and not say anything about Columbus?

Will the local press pick up on this or will they try to find a controversy and make their reporting based on little or no thought process?

Hey Old Timer

This is good information. Can you offer a little data to back up this rumor? This is exactly the kind of stuff this website needs to foster discussion.
Huh?

Didn't Ted Hackworth try to find out enrollment numbers in the schools by neighborhood or city/township and was told they can't give him those numbers because they don't track enrollment that way? I believe somebody from the local press also tried to find out and was told the same thing.

I don't speak education-ease, so could somebody please explain how they can't know how many kids are from certain neighborhoods, but they can know certain kids are from homes that were owned by empty-nesters?

Do we all need to go back to school and get Ph.D.s in education to understand the way they think?

Or are they just liars?
School District Boundaries

The area that is now ''Columbus'' has been in our school district for a long time. My mother attended Pickerington Schools--then Violet Township High School as a kid living on Tussing Road. That was well over 60 years ago. As most of you know or should know, school districts have their own boundaries and those boundaries may include other cities, townships, and counties. Pickerington's school boundaries have changed very little in the past 60 years.
