I am sure as I write this that Papa Gary, Mayor Mighty and their handsewn puppet have had ample time to strategize to offset their setback.

Hopefully the citizens are wide awake and listening now. Let's recap what we learned this week:

None of this is about cooperation.

It's about money and power.

Remember that what you read and hear from this point forward is about who controls the city and who our tax dollars go to. Everything said to date in defense of this agreement has been positively refuted with facts, data and the information provided by the proponents of the agreement. Opponents of this agreement had to do nothing more than take informaiton everyone on either side had access to and actually read it and understand it.

In the next few weeks, the ''ownership'' of the City of Pickerington will be decided. More than electing councilmen, more than hiring ineffective, irresponsible and incompetent city managers, more than hiring token development directors or assistant city managers, more than all that. 4 votes on the council will decide if we should willingly turn the future of the health of this city over to the township trustees.

Kinda cool

I have followed this story. Although I found no vested interest on my part, given I live in the township and stand nothing to lose whoever wins, it is nonetheless a great lesson in ''the process'' for our kids to learn from.

I was always disappointed in the fact that local history was not taught to my kids. They have always been too busy learning to take state tests that following the history, especially from say 1975 to present hasn't been taught. Maybe in some educator's spare time or for credit for CEUs they could put together something about the community's history and the politics of the city and township for an elective course. Kids could really learn something from it.

I won't kid myself. This agreement or extortion paper or however you look at it will eventually pass. There's no way around it. It has been shown in writing and through recordings I hear, that 4 votes have been secured. There is no turning back for these 4 people. There is simply too much history of what happens if you change your mind. Pickerington Paybacks, of course.

Anyway, to the three opponents of the agreement, congratulations. You did your homework and were willing to actually analyze data and present it rather than relying on words and a smooth sales pitch. Keep hanging in there and staying the course with facts and not assumptions. Also try to remember this past week fondly when you are dealt the full wrath of Pickerington Politics and Pickerington Paybacks.
