Information Sources

Trust me, I am still researching information.

You can get some of the information you require at www.oraclebrian.com. The topic with some of the information is ''Property Tax Primer.''

In that, his research shows we pay a .6 mil levy to Violet Township. I am in the process of trying to determine what Violet Township does with that money. Given what you have found out, in that they don't post their budget, I am trying to assess if we receive any services for that money. I think it totals about $200,000 per year from city taxpayers.

You know, a couple of hundred thousand here and a couple of hundred thousand there and we are starting to talk real money.

I also encourage you to look at the Fairfield County Auditor's site. They are much more forthcoming with informaiton than Violet Township.

These links will help you get going.

Folks, please don't sit back and wait for me to do all the research. Jump in and help out. I am no Bob Harding. I have limited time and resources but together perhaps we can find out what we pay the township for and what we get.

I will move my office

I live in the township but have an office with a couple of employees that are in the City of Pickerington. If the income tax goes to 2% I will move the office to the township. Lets merge and make everything equal.
Request for Assistance

If someone has time, can they Google to see about cost of fire departments for cities our size elsewhere in Ohio? I know we're at about 13,000 residents but I don't know our square miles.

I suspect a somewhat equal comparison would be:

13,000 residents
XX% Residential vs. XX% Commercial

Be looking for figures in the $2M range.

What else?

Thanks so much in advance.

Show us the money

Why don't you move your office now? That would save you and your employees at least 1 % of their pay. Why does going from 1% to 2% break your financial back? Do you think if the City and the Township merged that there would be no income taxes collected? You can not create all of these required services by planting money trees down along Sycamore Creek. If you folks are proposing a merger and it is for all of the wrong reasons then you and I will end up like Pataskala. They didn't want to see Reynoldsburg annex into their school district. To get the township folks to go along they didn't provide sufficient revenues to operate the new merged City. There police department was operating at half of what Pickerington's police force is operating at.

What is the reason for a merge now and here in Pickerington? So that we all get along? That we only have one government? It simply sounds good? That we help the schools? PROVE IT IN FACTS AND NUMBERS not this crap I see now.
