Operations
Fire - EMS Operations
yoming FIRE - EMS is a combination department ?– having a career fire chief and both part-time and paid-on-call personnel. The Emergency
Medical Services responds to all medical calls within Wyoming. Additionally paramedic services are contracted to three surrounding jurisdictions for Advanced Life Support coverage. Two paramedics are staffed for every 24-hour period. In 2005, there were 1,424 EMS calls. The total medical reimbursement billed for the City of Wyoming was $213,465 with an 87% collection rate. The receipts to the city's
general fund were $ 184,720. Fire personnel respond on a paid-on-call basis to every run that is dispatched for Station 97. All 42 volunteer firefighters have their own vocations, but offer their talents and skills to the operation of the Wyoming Fire - EMS. Fire personnel made 247 fire calls. These are categorized as actual fires or emergency calls such as fire or smoke alarms, overheated furnaces or air conditioning units, malfunctions in electrical appliances, damage to property as a result of storms, broken or frozen pipes, EMS
assists etc. The fire loss in the City of Wyoming for 2005, was $ 179,300, but more
importantly the property value saved by the Department was estimated at well over $ 9
million.
