Pickerington Area Taxpayers Alliance

Again, a matter of public trust

Good one

Great response rereader! I am not the original poster but want to chime in on this. I am not sure what you meant with the city manager comment but I think it is incumbent on her to assure the integrity of the technology at the city?’s disposal. Obviously if the email system is so easily compromised that a councilman can manipulate it to forward emails without a trace, I fear for how vulnerable privacy act data is.

On your second point, I would like to hear from an attendee of the Sunshine Law briefings given last year because I am rather certain the topic was discussed at length. As far as complaints already being made, I am sure that other councilmen are cautious at lodging complaints as the mayor is trying to divert attention from issues (like the economic agreement) and instead allude to the disagreements being of a personal nature rather then a professional one. No one wants to see the city enter into an agreement that is bad news for us bowing to the pressure of ?“You are just picking on Jeff?”.

On your third point, I did notice Sabatino has a different email address. However, I don?’t believe that he has emails sent to his city account forwarded there without a trace. I?’ll let him speak to that himself if he cares to. I suspect he is above board on this because, of all people, he would not want to knowingly do something he has accused others of in the past.

Your fifth point has to do with a method of contact. Each and every elected official is required to list a phone number and/or email address for the constituents to contact them. In the past there were councilmen who claimed to not have an email account and his pone number was the only contact. I recall calling him myself several times and he was always responsive.

As to your last paragraph, there is a burden of proof. Did he alter any emails? It is certainly possible. Did he disclose all emails requested through public information? How can anyone tell? You yourself say he is dishonest and I agree. Without what the other poster referred to as a system administrator, how would we ever know if he picks and chooses what he wants to share? I also think that state laws have changed to adapt to the times. I don?’t think that the time frame you refer to with the school board inquiry was a prevalent with the usage of emails as today. That?’s why someone should check out the briefing from last year. It was probably more up to date.

It?’s refreshing to read someone else stating that they are seeing through what this person claims to be.
