Please note that we have added the Economic Agreement that was passed at the November 9th Service Committee meeting to city council for their action on November 21st. The vote was 2-1 in favor of passing this version. Riggs and Hammond voted yea and Hackworth voted nay.
Please note that we have also added the version of the Economic Agreement with the changes recommended by the city staff including the City Manager and City Development Director. These changes came as a result of repeated citizen requests for professional staff intervention and repeated council requests for professional staff involvement. These changes also came as a result of Service Committee?’s failure to pass the agreement out of committee last month because the Service Committee members were uncomfortable that staff hadn?’t become engaged in the development of the agreement. According to the minutes of the October Service meeting and the results of the vote this month, apparently those same people requesting staff involvement have now rejected the changes and discounted the expertise offered by the City Manager and City Development Director, each of whom have over two decades apiece of experience in these matters.
Please take the time to read these documents and decide for yourself if you are satisfied that the majority of City Council is acting in the best interest of the city of Pickerington and her 13,000 residents.
Either way you decide, please go to the city council meeting next Tuesday, November 21st and make your views heard. Pease do not continue to bury your head in the sand and hope this all turns out well. This is a 30 year commitment for us and our children and our grandchildren.
Your voices need to be heard.
