Here's your suggestions, Pam. The mentality that the township is always right has to stop. First, it should start with the elections this fall. Isn't it time a city resident represent us on the 'bored' of trustees? Maybe we put it to a vote and let the residents decide if one trustee should be from the incorporated township in the form of an initive. Or how about a ward system for the trustees? Now you, Pam, may have a voice to represent you on your merger study/idea. You would think that person might want to explore it. Unless they are another NWRC mind numb robot.
Next, the city itself should enact legislation to review merger every five years. Things change rapidly in a community where the city stops itself from annexing and the surrounding areas continue to grow and prosper at 4 peoples expense.
Lastly, why not cut the trustees out of the loop altogether , go directly to Canal, do a joint venture with them and see the trutees come begging for table scraps. And sue the trustees when they intervene. Then find common ground with Canal regarding school distrct boundries and annexing, put it in writing , shake hands and have then a real plan for the future along 33.
Elsewise, you'll get more bars, storage units, and whatever else the bib overall boys call commercial development.
By Merger Curious, Annexation Sure
