How long does it take??

Wait and see for now

I am not an elections expert. However I believe the trustees will be in a holding pattern for now. The folks that filed the referendum have frozen the effective date of the ordinance passed for the development agreement. So even if the trustees were to come back after the signatures are approved and they also agreed then we would have to wait until November to see if the Citizens will approve the agreement.

The council could pull a Canal Winchester and rescind the ordinance and that cancels out the referendum vote in November. They then could pass another ordinance with similar language and pass that. I would think good lawyer work would tell you not to give the trustees an open ended agreement where they have until ever to approve. They should have a acceptance date to accept by and if they don't then the city if off the hook.

Fix never thought about that but since the web master is cranky I can't go into too much detail about his qualifications in the first place.

So the short answer is the trustees have NO DEADLINE to approve the agreement.

Compromise??

Has anyone considered a compromise on this issue?.

Would the three minority members be willing to talk and present a compromise to the majority. Would the majority of council and the trustees be willing to accept a compromise or will they continue to raise the status of the former whipping boy and coffee man into the walk on water or messiah status that he is rapidly approaching with the voters?

I believe the City Finance Director has until late August to file this referendum with the board of elections.

If the majority ignores this minority and the many voters that signed the referendum I believe you will see a real life recall campaign get underway. There is not much love out there for the Fix and I believe Fix has created a number of enemies over the years with the PATA newsletter. I do not think this is going to be a game of bluff with the petition committee or the voters. Just knowing a few of them they are dead serious.
Someone is feeling the heat

Must be Fersch has made it known the petition passes muster. If after all these many months someone is finally cursed the unspoken word(compromise) then someone is feeling the heat and realizes that the house of cards is starting to look even more flimsy.

Buckle up you minority members of council. Things are bound to get interesting when you all get invited to the Stonecreek Diner or Grapevine to hear these words of compromise.

Don't forget Riggs' offers of compromise when you all were looking to hire a law director.

DON'T FORGET!
fixing the agreement

I don't think any of them are ''feeling the heat'' at this point. I see them trying to B.S. the public into thinking they have heard their concerns and they make a few changes to the agreement and say here it is all ''fixed'' now so we can continue to give away the city's rights to the trustees.

The real key will be will when one of the members of the City council majority see the light or ''feels the heat'' and rejects this plan to share the city's revenues with the township and get nothing back in return? I also believe the longer this stays out in front of the more citizens will see the just how poorly thought out this agreement is. Since there are egos involved here, look for Fix to be by himself once that exodus begins.
