Trustees should stick to their words
To the Editor:
Let me get this straight. In 1996, the project developer for the Spring Creek subdivision was granted zoning to build up to six units per acre in Spring Creek. In return, the developer committed to certain restrictions, which would prohibit various types of businesses and prohibit curb cuts along Milnor Road. Then, prospective homeowners relied on these agreements and purchased their homes.
Now, the developers are seeking to amend these agreements with the approval of the township trustees. If the trustees agree to any change in these restrictions, the trustees words will not be worth the paper they're written on regarding any planned development in the township.
Words have meanings and the words inserted in the 1996 restrictions were there to protect property values and maintain safety in the area. The words in the restrictions are just as valid today as they were in 1996.
All residents of Violet Township must insist that the trustees keep their word to the homeowners in Spring Creek.
