Initiative petition

The initiative petitions will not stop economic agreements. It will allow the city voting residents to put annexation issues in the hands of themselves via a ballot issue instead of a council majority or the township trustee majority. Mike, please be patient and read the papers for more details.

I choose to remain anonynous. I fear retribution because of council ties to school board members. I feel some people are in office for revenge. Too many people blame the past and can't see the future. Some might say I side with the past. Yes and no. Some then might not take me serious by association which is too bad. If people at city hall are helping out, using a name might compromise them. People at city hall cannot speak their minds. Jobs and families are at stake. Lastly, why would anybody want to be trashed on a site like this?

Mike, wade through the fact and fiction of this site with a sense that your informing yourself about the goings on with a side order of humor.

I enjoy the riddle postings. Patience.

Enough already indeed!

Mike - stick with your concerned citizen angle and leave being a jerk to Keith Smith and Jeff Fix.

Public meetings

Mike

I think once you understand the movement going on in Pickerington at this time you will realize that there is a group trying to protect the interests of the City Taxpayers. They have met in very public places and they have visited many of their neighbors in the first phase of this effort.

Some have remained anonymous going so far as to not even sign or circulate the most recent petitions. Some are content to provide funding and other in kind services.

Yesterday an initiative was filed with the city to place on the ballot a measure to amend the City Charter. It will be explained in greater detail in the local newspapers this coming week.

There was a concerted effort by some members of this group to seek a compromise with the leader of the pack and that being Councilman Fix. I believe there was concerted efforts by the council minority to seek compromise with Councilman Fix and the other three votes on council. All of these efforts were soundly rejected by Mr. Fix and his partners in the township. Each time a suggested change was offered the response was that it was a ''deal breaker.''

I know this site has many postings about cooperation with the township and vice-versa. This PATA group was originally formed by members of the city and the township. If you review the newsletters that were sent out to many of the area residents they bashed the city government for years. In 2003 the City voters basically replaced their city government and the direction of the city government. In 2006 none of that was ever enough for the township and her elected officials. Today they (township government) continue to bash the City council and refuse to listen to the concerns. Despite the major changes in the City government things remain the same.

It is very apparent to many of us that for the township and the city to work together there are many issues that must be resolved PRIOR to that ever happening. The simplistic solutions offered by Fix and the trustees only compound the problems already identified by some on council and many of the citizens who are members of this new (un-named) group. You should also know that for the most part this new group is mainly City voters.

It is also apparent that the stonewalling by Mr. Fix and his vindictive personality has caused great concern among the members of this group. His petty insecurities lead him to take actions that are uncalled for in this city or any city. The City of Pickerington voters deserve better than Mr. Fix. He is making efforts as we post here to isolate those in power and to protect them from outside influences or from any input from the citizens.

Facing the group is the council majority stonewalling and their desire to create their mark on Pickerington by using the initiative petitions to change the city government for the better. As we see the support grow you will see new initiatives being offered to the voters in the future.
