Response to Response

Everything down Diley road should be annexed into the city! The taxpayers have paid for that road and have the right to 100% of the tax revenue generated off of it.

Time to remove the governmental welfare city residents are paying to the township.

Oddly enough, some of the residents involved with this referendum got involved after hearing Jeff dismiss the intelligence and professions of other council members. No prodding necessary. Letting Jeff speak is a sure-fire way to recruit members for the opposition.

Is this there position?

Is this the position of this group? To annex all of Diley Rd? If so, then shouldn't Brian Wisniewski be stating that on his blog instead of skirting around the issue, by saying that if Issue 9 is passed that doesn't mean he'd support annexing land, and conforming boundaries?

Furthermore, there is not enough land off of Diley Rd. to build anything of significance on. Thus, the need for cooperation with surrounding communities. You can build more strip malls that will be empty in 5-10 years which bring in nominal income, and you can build grocery stores, but where is your real economic growth to help the taxpayers? Or are the taxpayers even your concern? You do understand that if you begin to annex land on Diley that the township will draw it out in litigation and cost the taxpayers a fortune in attorney's fees. Who is to say by then that Canal hasn't gobbled all that land up anyway, or it isn't already built into a JEDD with Lancaster, Bloom, Canal, and Violet. If that happens you won't be annexing anything, and once again, like Lee Gray and Craig Maxey did to the city before with Canal Pointe, the city will get nothing in revenue when it could have bargained a deal for itself. What is the refutation to this? I'm really curious now.

Lastly, if that is your position and the position of this group, then why would you rather have taxpayers pay attorney's fees instead of infrastructure expenses that would benefit the community by bringing in big business to offset the tax base? Brian and Ted should be governing with the best interests of the community in mind, not responding to a grudge match with Canal or Violet Township. That will cause everyone in the city to lose not only by paying more taxes, but by splitting the community in two.
Jeffy

Jeffy boy, your blood pressure's startin' to rise. I can see read it through your postings here.

Your lies about big business and taxes have been exposed before.

You need a new mantra.

Grocery

This is your argument? Retail's bad and Canal's got it together?

What is all that dirt getting moved around just North of 33 on Diley road in Canal Winchester?

That's right - it's a Meijer. Maybe Canal will really hit a home run if one of the outlots is a Charley's Grilled Subs, since they've got the best cheesesteak around! That'll bring in the 'big businesses' we've been hearing so much about!

How much is that tax-exempt Mount Carmel hospital (where no construction has yet to occur) going to lower the property taxes for Canal School district tax payers? Ohhh that's right - it's tax exempt - another home run for the schools with the big fat ZERO!

But there's always that industrial park on Diley that Canal and Violet worked on together. How much does that save the Canal School district taxpayers? Ohh that's right - it's 100% tax-ABATED!

Steeeeerike THREE!

If corporate welfare to bring in 'big businesses' is your solution you really need to see a shrink. If you think 'big businesses' are going to settle anywhere without massive tax incentives you need to talk to your Dr. and get your Rx's evaluated.
