Sounds like Parker
Although I have not heard this latest story I think we shouldn?’t discount it. I know that the former web master used to get some of his best information from sporting events. Many times months in advance of anything happening public. He floated the idea of annexing the North High complex a long time ago.
Anyway I know we all don?’t like the idea of paying taxes but if we want to see responsible commercial growth the community will need to provide some infrastructure. That infrastructure is provided by borrowing power and that borrowing power and those loans are paid back with increased tax revenues. Clearly the City has a higher tax load or base because they can impose income taxes. Maybe our friends at the Township are beginning to figure that out. I know when I sat in on the township zoning commission meeting at Ridgeview there must have been 500 people and the fire department was preventing new people from coming into the room.
Some of the questions that I recall was about the plan for the development and who was to provide the infrastructure like roads and what happens at the Refugee and Hill road intersection? Clearly the trustees blinked on this one.
The property owners I am sure would like to sell their collective properties. Some of these owners are getting up in age and if they want to see the land sell and develop in their life time I would think the only possibility would be for the land to be annexed into Pickerington. I understand they have asked other municipalities to enter into a JEDD like Canal and they were turned down.
I think if the trustees really sit down and did some of the calculations on future tax revenues in the township they would find they could increase the township revenues and improve the Refugee road area to accommodate the big box store. If they could come to the city with a reasonable proposal and allow the annexation to happen the deal could be worked out satisfactorily for all parties. Fix and Shaver are not smart enough to pull off the deal.
