Steve Davis Chairman of the Fairfield County Republican party,
Yesterday some of your officers in the Republican party were out in force handing out campaign literature to oppose a Pickerington City Charter Amendment. Although this is a political issue I am very much offended by the literature. It goes far beyond political spin and gets into outright lies and scare tactics.
As a life long Republican is this the new face of the Republican Party?
You should know and I believe you do know that out of the 124 precincts in Fairfield County that were formerly listed as Republican 110 of those precincts are now turned Democratic. That happened as a direct result of the former Governor Taft and the Republican candidate Blackwell in November.
The forces that turned the county into being Democratic are still at work here in Pickerington a Republican stronghold. The remnants of the Blackwell campaign and the ?“Young Republicans?” along with officers in the Fairfield County Republican party.
Your County Secretary Jeff Fix is the author of most of the lying and deceit. He has influenced your Republican County party Treasurer, Brian Sauer, to carry the material to the door steps of the Pickerington homes where they can not be challenged with the information they are trying to convince people of.
During the debate of the Master Development agreement Mr. Fix got his four votes by lying and now he has lost credibility with some of the Council members and I doubt he still has his four votes on council. Where were these Young Republicans when this debate was raging on the council floor? They were hiding in their homes afraid to come out because they had no idea what they were talking about and in front of council they would have been challenged by the truth. In fact during a very heated debate of the Pickerington citizens your Count Party secretary Fix faked a delayed flight from Texas to allow others on council to take the heat for his development agreement. Not only is Mr. Fix a lair but he is a coward.
What is very disturbing is that you are using the young people (the party?’s future) to spread these lies. Many of these kids are still living in their parents homes. However they talk like they know what it feels like to pay taxes and what it feels like to see tax money wasted. They are promoting issues and making statements with no proof or documentation to support any of their claims.
I know at this late date you are helpless to find a solution or to correct the behavior of the members of your executive board. Ken Blackwell lost by a huge margin in the state and it our predominately Republican county. When the core of the party and the future of the party allow its members to become corrupted with lies then your future as a credible force in this county and with me is forever damaged.
Looking people in the eye and lying to them does not sit well with me. Those comments and this campaign literature will come back to haunt the county Republican party in the coming years. I think our party can do better than this. Don?’t look for support at my door.
