Nah, here's the off-base part
1. Pickerington Local Schools are NOT contiguous with Columbus Public Schools - therefore CANNOT participate in win-win.
Sure they are, go to www.franklincountyauditor.com GIS maps - look at S.W. corner of PLSD. Smack in the middle of contiguous Canal schools...there's Columbus. It's (Columbus) everywhere. And people in other threads think I need a geography lesson... ;-)
>PLSD did not miss AYP in the category of ''not .white, not wealthy''.
Sure they did - you're looking at ''tested goals'' for AYP...look at the ''test results'' after all that.
>I agree with you on the Sped Ed kids shouldn't >take the test to goof up the rating for the 90% >of the kids that aren't Spec Ed. But how do you >do that? Is there an alternate test to take?
I wouldn't worry about them anyway. I'm the wrong person to ask.
>I've also heard that once kids can speak >English they are taken out of the ESL class
>makes sense) so I want to know where are those >children tested?
Don't know - work in a different district that had its own share of ESL problems. Federal lawsuits and such.
>Seems to me you shoot yourself in the foot if >you do too good of a job here.
Might be. The numbers game as many losers.
>I also read that the district has 53 languages spoken in it -
>can that be true??
Sure, it could...but it doesn't mean that those people aren't multilingual and don't also speak English. I do core stuff, ESL is a different, non-academic content animal. Usually, it's ''language spoken at home'' that indicates the sort of 53 number you've got. Those kids may have some English skills also. Check the specialists in Picktown for more specific.
My issue has been with the numbers game in general.
