The New Kid in Town

Posted in: PATA
No chance

Mike Reeves isn't the problem; it's the process that got him there:

- No real search to fill Kemper's huge boots
- No idea of the criteria that was used beyond Karen Mantia's views of ''the modern student''
- No complete discussion by the board
- No sense of what this guy's views on education, but PLENTY on his b-ball skillset

When it's my kids, my neighbors and my propery values, I will speak my mind here, at board meetings and at Central face to face (if this guy gives us the chance).

In my time coaching, I know plenty of people that know Mike Reeves directly. He is NOT the right choice for Central.

Stick to the available facts at hand. You want to give it nine weeks until you see it, fine. It's already too late for this year.
Reverse Racism is ok?

Anyone who knows Mr. Wilkinson knows how great he is, they also know he's a two time cancer surviver.

You max out your retirement at 35 years of service with public education & I know Mr. Wilkinson is either there or very close.

So I do believe he will retire in the next couple of years. How many of you will be in the same field for 35 years & not think you're allowed to retire?

I am sure he will have a place in our school as long as he wants one - we love him and so does the school district. Parents at Tussing were also concerned with the nurse episode, but we never heard for a minute that Tom was not supported & he didn't hesitate to do the right thing for his building.

I also can't believe that reverse racism is ok. Since when is a man not capable of running a high school merely because of the color of his skin?

Dear Tussing Parent,

Please go back through the posts to understand why people are angry. You are either misunderstanding what people have written or are intentionally twisting words.

People have concerns as to why Kemper left and why, two weeks later, the board voted a new principal to his position. Without any comments that I saw in the papers.

People are questioning whether there was racism involved in pushing Kemper out, and whether Wilkinson will be next. While Wilkinson had the support of the last superintendent, there's a new sheriff in town.
Not necessarily sleuth

I agree that Chuck Kemper had a huge group of individuals (parents, teachers, students, etc.) that supported him. I'd like to believe that his decision to leave was his alone. Perhaps he got tired of explaining himself to parents regarding his discipline record or need for special lock down drills.

As far as the quick turn-around in hiring a new principal, I understand the contracts to run from Aug to Aug so perhaps that's why there was a rush to hire a new administrator. That, and can you imagine the kaos of opening for the school year without a principal?
