Ticks me off

Posted in: PATA
You know what really burns my muffins?

Here we are just about to start another season of high school football and we have to contend yet again with the World Harvest Church using the stadiums at Pick Central and Pick North for their football games.

This chaps me something fierce. Could one of our illustrious school board members tell me why we're allowing this to continue? There is a high school sports website/blog that is all Ohio HS sports all the time and the Harvest Prep fan base is going on and on about how great a team they are going have this season. But they don't even have a HOME FIELD!

Perhaps someone on the school board or the new superintendant could grow a pair and put some pressure on Hot Rod Parsley. Please!

Chaps me, too

Where else would the kids graduate? Reynoldsburg spends $15,000 to use the Schott for graduation every year; Rod gives Picktown space for free.

Reciprocal agreements are inconvenient.

Arrangement not bad

From what I understand, PLSD provides the footbal fields to World Harvest, in exchange for the use of their facility for Central & North's graduation ceremonies. And, they alternate the high school being used; one year North's field is used, the next Central's. Doesn't seem like a huge burden. Especially in light of the fact that a large arena (like Vets Memorial, I've heard) would be required to accommodate all the students/parents/guests for graduation, and this would cost big bucks. Giving up one school's fields each year, for a limited number of times, doesn't seem like a big price to pay for the benefit we get as a district.
Mis-informed

You're mis-informed, just look at the home schedule for World Harvest football. They alternate using Central and North facilities each home game not every year.

The field at Tiger stadium takes a pounding due to over use. Football at all levels (varsity, JV, freshman, and junior high), boys and girls soccer so by the end of the October it looks like a sandlot. Add World Harvest to the mix and it's just that much worse.

Two keys points that cannot be argued with...
1 - North has more facilities to spread out the wear and tear on fields. They essentially have two football fields with all the needed facilities in which to use. Central has one.
2 - Rod Parsley is fleecing his flock at World Harvest week after week for millions of dollars each year. They have the means to build their own faciltity but why should they? Pickerington is giving them one for free.

The debate about using the church for graduation ceremonies doesn't hold water. Both high schools have auditoriums, gynasiums and stadiums... use these for graduation.
