Heidi a candidate for the people? A big switch from her position on council where the concerns of the citizens are not a concern of hers.
Heidi's thoughts on what is best for the citizens, as long as we have the 4 votes we can do what we want.
I agree with the other poster, God help us all if this is the only choice we have for mayor.
I wonder what council person is pulling this puppet's strings? I am not sure, but I believe we will get a Fix on who it is shortly

Remember back when?
Remember when O'Brien got appointed to council? I was at that meeting when Riggs leaned over and sais something to Sabatino after Mitch was sworn in and took his seat. Does anyone remember what she said? I do because I asked Sabatino.
She showed her big white teeth and said ''We don't need you anymore, Mike.''
Power to the poeople Riggs!
After you're beaten in November I hope you finally do move to that house in Upper Arlington that you were offered. We don't need you and those like you anymore.

Make a careful choice
I?’ll repeat this only because I have heard it from two different sources. Both of these sources are either city employees or a contractor ?– not elected officials or political opponents. Many more that a few times during the first two years of Riggs?’ term on council, both in council meetings and committee meetings, Riggs was overheard leaning to her left or right and saying ?“I just didn?’t have time to read my packet. How should I vote on this??” So I guess I have to ask myself if she didn?’t have time to read her packets in a timely manner, do analysis of the contents, make inquiries and come to some sort of opinion to cast an informed and intelligent vote, how can we support her to move up to the Mayor?’s seat. If she was casting uninformed votes with no idea of what she was voting on or the repercussions, how can she be trusted to step up to a higher office? If she has no clue, how can she serve as ?“ambassador for the city?” in her words?
Come on folks, Riggs is nothing more than another political opportunist. She is in the mold of Shaver and Fix. She has no more desire to serve this city than I have to move to Afghanistan. We have suffered four years of an inattentive and absentee Mayor. We don?’t need four more of the same. Shaver had the opportunity to help grow and shape his council in the election two years ago and unite them after. Instead he forced partisan politics in a nonpartisan arena and even screwed that up by getting involved in the cross-political issues surrounding the beloved NW Republican club and their endorsement on non-Republicans. Then to add to that, he then declared candidacy for a judicial seat for which he had no money, no campaign management and worst of all, no support even from the very people that got him to where he was at the time. How pathetically embarrassing! Even Riggs was distancing herself from Shaver to protect her political status both within the county and to the state Republicans. She saw a corner office in the Governor?’s Mansion and walked over everyone who she perceived as a liability.
Another bone I have to pick with Riggs is that, and correct me if I am wrong, she is or was an officer in the county Republican Party. If not, she has certainly weaseled a coveted insider position with them. Additionally, another member of her slate for this November, Brian Sauer is/was an officer in the county party as well as President of the beloved NW Republican club. I heard earlier this week that they are sharing a campaign manager. Guess who? Well, I won?’t mention names but let?’s just say this guy is a Democrat. OK, OK, I know that these are nonpartisan offices but COME ON!! How can the county party stand idly by and let another election cycle garner this cross-partisan scandal? Just two years ago they stabbed one of their most ardent supporters in the back and cost him an election simply because he wouldn?’t kiss Jeff Fix?’s ring. Is Steve Davis so completely addled that he can sit by and let this nonsense go on? Hasn?’t the Republican Party suffered enough without willingly getting into yet another scandal?
Well, I am at my work limit for this forum but let me close by saying two things. First I hope that Riggs will face opposition. Second, if the opposition has any character, we need to get behind them and save ourselves from her.

One Shaver is enough
Just to firm up things in my mind about Riggs, I went back and did a little research into her attendance, voting and sponsorship record. What an insignificant and irrelevant existence! She has done nothing of substance in over 5 years of service. She claims to have sponsored the ethics legislation. Well, so did the rest of council. If she thinks that is important, why didn?’t she insist that her new comrades Fix, Smith and Hammond have to attend ethics training? Did her mentor Shaver ever attend? Did she actually attend? It?’s like a paint-by-numbers offering. If you stand across the room it looks nice but as you approach it, you?’ll see there is nothing of substance there.
She claims to have sponsored the housing moratorium. Did the city really gain anything except a very costly lawsuit out of that? And if she thought that was so important, why didn?’t she work not to settle the lawsuit but continue a modified moratorium?
When she talks about re-engaging the citizens in the process and decisions, is this tied to her close personal friend and political ally Jeff Fix?’s plans to reduce the council meetings to once a month and only have one reading per ordinance? Is she a collaborator in Fix?’s plans to streamline the government by setting time limits for committee meetings? Is this tied to proposing to pay a salary to Planning and Zoning members? After all, the township does that. Once you put them on payroll, won?’t you take away all objectivity and make them political pawns?
Keith Smith exclaims she would make a fine mayor. That endorsement comes with a lot of baggage. Look at how he worked the political machine during his election. Oh that?’s right, he can pass that buck to Bowen who is running the Riggs slate campaigns this year. Smith made numerous promises to us seniors and has yet to, nor plans to honor those promises. If he lied about that, is it safe to assume he is lying about Riggs making a fine mayor? It is a safe bet to me. Now Riggs is taking up the cause for seniors. More lies?
Folks, I hope another candidate will declare. I cannot stand the potential to have a Barbie Doll mayor with as much between her ears as the real doll has running this city. Worse yet, given her total and complete domination of the city manager, we will suffer four more years of indecision, refusal to make decisions and if you think that the last four years the city government has idled, imagine what four more years of Shaver politics will do to this city.
