New Parks??
They can't even maintain the parks they have now. I see Sycamore Park everyday and they have removed 4 playgrounds and/or sets of swings because they haven't been able to meet the upkeep with them. The ''gravel'' path from the parking lot to the tennis courts is only reminder that a wide, maintained gravel path once existed. The ''shelter house'' next to the empty plot of fenced in grass that used to be horse shoe pits, is a shelter house in name only. The steps leading from the upper parking lot to the softball ball diamonds are a safety hazard at best.
Much of the perimeter of the pond has been cleared of all vegitation because they can't keep up with it and over runs with poison ivy. They clear it, drop in rocks to ''prevent'' errosion, but the rock slide into the pond and the banks errode none the less. Let alone are you going to let a child fish from the bank...errr....pile of unsteady rocks??
Memo to new park, community swimming pool and rec center people: Do you even go to the parks we have now? We go multiple times every week and the upkeep is embarrassing. If you disagree I will post dated photos to the web every month from now until you believe. Better yet go see it for yourself. Walk through the entire park. Actually put down your newspaper or Motorola Q during soccer practice, get out of the minivan and walk through the park. Don't say that doesn't apply to most of the parents down there. I see it everyday, probably not you, but most of 'em down there.
Oh yeah, those USGA approved putting greens for ''locals to practice their short game,'' check them out. Nice roots growing beneath the surface. I get more more practice for mini-golf at Magic Mountain than I do for a round at Turnberry. Might as well drop a windmill and big clown mouth on each green at this point.
I find an algae infested community pool pretty appealing, so go for it. Actually a new pool or rec center would get more attention than our existing facilities. Don't say it ain't true...look at our high schools.
