Pickerington City Manager Judy Gilleland confirmed on Sunday that she is preparing to interview for the same job in Worthington.

Her name first surfaced in connection with the job last week, when Worthington spokeswoman Anne Brown said it was possible that Gilleland would be one of the five finalists for the opening.

Thomas Dority of the Mercer Group, which is conducting the search for a replacement for city manager Dave Elder, is to recommend to Worthington City Council on Tuesday night that Gilleland be among the five finalists scheduled to be interviewed on Thursday.

Dority recruited Gilleland, who has served as Pickerington's city manager for three years. She was not among the 54 people who applied for Worthington's manager position.

She will replace Douglas R. Elliott Jr., assistant city manager of Painesville, Ohio, in the candidates' pool. He dropped out of the race to accept the city manager job in Oxford, Ohio.

The other candidates for the Worthington job are Michelle Crandall, Jon S. Crusey, Matt Greeson and Robert W. Harrison.
