DEATH OF A STAFF MEMBER

The Pickerington High School Central (PHSC) family suffered a great loss over the weekend. After a brief illness, teacher Jenniffer Clear passed away. Mrs. Clear was a warm and caring educator and her presence here at PHSC will be missed.

Calling hours are set for 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. today at the Dwayne R. Spence Funeral Home and Crematory. A Memorial Mass is set for Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Seton Parish Catholic Church in Pickerington. Those students who wish to attend may do so with a parent?s permission. Parents will need to provide transportation to and from the services as well as a signed note for the excused absence.

Death is a complicated and difficult concept for adults and even more so for teenagers. I encourage you to take a moment to discuss this topic with your child. Even when teens push away from their parents, they are often looking for guidance, especially during difficult times. Mental Health America offers online resources for parents to discuss grief with their children at www.mentalhealthamerica.net.

School counselors are available and a moment of silence was held this morning in her memory. Our thoughts are with Mrs. Clear's friends and family as we come together to mourn the loss of one of our own. Should you have any additional questions please feel free to contact the school's office at (614) 833-3025.
