Obviously
This board is not representative of the overall voter population.
The average voter doesn't...
...post to political message boards.
...read the campaign lit that comes in the mail.
...research topics and issues as presented on this board.
...know all the city council/school board candidates on the ballot prior to voting.
...couldn't explain what a 'mil' on a levy or bond is.
...know much about the candidates other than the names they see most often from signage and their mail box. (Name repetition.)

Agreed, Thanks a lot Terry
Terry took votes away that could have helped to elect good people. It was a poor decision on his part to run when one, there was no effort on his part to get elected and two,no hope. The 6% of the vote he took was better spent on Ted or Tony.
It was almost like he knew that he would be able to sway enough votes to help make the outcome what it was.

Hang in there guys
I think Tricia Sanders won the most votes simply because ''her'' crowd was voting at the poles on Tuesday. She talked recreation center and joint parks board and they all think that is a nifty idea. Of course she has no idea how to pay for it but the idea struck a cord with her voters at the voting booth. I think the PEA endorsement helped Mitch and Brian Wisniewski and yes I think Terry Walburn took votes away from Ted and Tony. They were only a little over 100 votes down and Walburn had 580 votes. I doubt the voters for Walburn wanted a rec center.
I will say that Jim Brink should not give up. Two years ago we couldn't get anyone to run and the three incumbents ran unopposed. All three indicated they wanted to step down. So to the Jim Brink's out there please stick around and stay involved. There will be another race in 2009.
I would also say the same to Ted and Tony. There will be another election in 2009 and there will be four seats available. You both have been leaders in the community and you have shown that leadership. We are promised no more levies for 4 years so you will not have your election influenced by outside forces. I am sure Fix and his friends will continue to build on their stepping stone council before they move on the greener pastures. Which is non too sooon.

Not sure who Terry hurt most!
I think you are right that he hurt Ted. I am not sure that he hurt Tony all that much. I bet he hurt Robert Blair a lot more than Tony. Although Robert Blair hurt himself by having his mailers hit to late or his mailing company. I heard people were getting his mail yesterday even!
