Let's talk about claiming only $2000 comes from the CEDA at Canal Pointe as Wisniewski does on his website, when an easy call to the Township Clerk would've told him that Violet Township actually rec'd $117,694.53 last year. I thought he was all about data driven decisions. Well, it helps when your data is correct so you can make accurate informed decisions.
Lets talk about Issue 9 when if it was passed as Hackworth, Wisniewski, and Barletta would have liked ANY type of cooperation would have been shot. The charter amendment by state law would've precluded the City of Pickerington from any participation in joint economic developments. Goodbye Route 33 growth alliance for the City of Pickerington. Where was that data driven policy of Wisniewski's then?
Lets talk about fiscal conservatism when Hackworth wanted to conform boundaries, split the fire department, and increase city income taxes. Another great idea! Lets split one of the best fire deparments in the state and divide it into two. Then we get 2 fire deparments that both have to paid for, or you can contract out for one, better bend over when you walk into those negotiations.
Oh wait, I know how we'll pay for it. We'll use the Hackworth income tax increase for it! NO THANKS!
The greatest irony is now Hackworth, Wisniewski, and Barletta are all for cooperation. It must be campaign season, because their actions over the last year sure don't support their mouths.
Lastly, I love the argument that we're giving away tax dollars. It is hard to give away city tax dollars when the land isn't even in the city and may never be. Better yet maybe we could spend a fortune in attorneys for the city to fight annexation battles, delay infrastructure improvements to afford it, and in 10 years have more land good enough to build homes and strip malls on, and like the CEDA in Canal Pointe gain NO revenue from anything along 33 because our egos got in the way!
