Saw this below & wanted to take a piece of it and make it it's own string.

This levy has been renewed multiple times - a renewal keeps the existing $ at the same level. This levy has been renewed twice since it's inception. The original 5 mills has eroded to 2.8 Mills over the course of the years. Eroded due to the fact the levy DOES NOT collect additional dollars as we add new housing. What occurs is the voted millage gets lowered to the individual taxpayer as we add homes. The existing dollars are spread over more homes but the collection does NOT increase.
Currently a ''mill'' in Pickerington is worth about a million dollars. A replacement levy will take the levy back up to it's original voted level. This is the first time this levy has been ''replaced''.
What's incorrect is the screwy Ohio Law that controls how we fund schools. That's what keeps schools - no it's just not Pickerington - on the ballot over and over again. Well that and the fact that thousands of houses have been platted & have sprung up like weeds for years.
It's nice to see our City Candidates all talking about slowing growth. And yes it does seem to be slowing. But it will take years for the school district to recover from the slam of homes in the last 10 years. That fix doesn't happen overnight. As you vote in November - look carefully to see who was part of that problem and who was part of the solution.
