Good-bye fire service

Told me nothing...

Huntington Hills & Jefferson Farms & Jefferson Woods have all been around more than 12 years. The city now has to live with the effects of uncontrolled growth within their own borders most of which occured in the last 5 years. It's not a newsflash that residential development eats up city service dollars faster than commercial development. The city built homes without having the adequate plans in place to grow it's infrastructure at the same time & now timing is such that it's catching up with them. The new Council has it's work cut out for them.

Had the infrastructure grown at the same rate as the homes they would have put the City in a better position than they currently find themselves.

If you are suggesing that we'd be better off if the township had more homes within current developments & no large acre lots - you've really lost your mind. More lots, more homes, more kids, bigger needs on the school system, would create the need for even more classrooms, bigger needs from fire, sheriff, etc. I don't think so.

Please check your facts

Dear Violet Mom,

Here we have yet another township resident making comments on this web site based on nothing but a perception of inaccurate information.

The city has keep up with it's infrastructure needs. It is the township that has provided NO infrastructure over the last few years and the city has been left holding the bag. If it were up solely to the township then Diley Road would have NEVER been planned for or have been widened to allow for commercial development.

The other fact you are wrong is that single family residential development does cause a problem with the infrastructure of the schools. However it has less effect on the police and fire. They are strongly affected by commercial development and the need for police (Shop Lifters and traffics accidents). Within the city there is very little abatements and TIFs where they divert the taxes for the police and fire. If you notice the areas in the township that are under Reynoldsburg and Canal both are subsidizing the new businesses with abatements and TIFs.

Mom, mom, mom

The subdivisons I mentioned before are the definition of sprawl, whether they were built 12 years ago or 20. A housing project 3 miles from here in the middle of a corn field is sprawl. 5 acre lots on 204 is sprawl. If you took any time to read anything about smart growth you stop typing and start listening.

Is it better to have 20 homes on 100 acres or on the same 100 acres to have 20 homes on 20 of the acres and the other 80 to remain as green space?

Look, the city will persevere. We have been supplying shopping and conveniences for Woodsfield, Summerfield, Mingo Estates, Mallard Pond, Countrywood, East Chester, Chevington Woods, Chevington, Hunnington Hills, Jefferson Woods and Farms without your taxes. Although we also pay for your sheriff, your water plants, your sewer plants we can handle helping you. But why do we need to double everyone's costs by building sewer plants at places like Hunnington Hills? So you can have your sprawl. Growth from the borders, my lady. Let's go build sewer plants everwhere because you want to live with a country atmosphere at my expense. Thanks for nothing.

Oh yea, by the way

Please list the water and sewer taps that were ''given'' away by the city as you say. I'll be waiting for your response.
