While I appreciate the fact that some maintenance and upkeep was occurring at Sycamore Park, is it a wise use of funds to pay city workers to be running weed whackers in the rain at 8:30 or 9:00 in the morning on a Sunday?

Here's how I see it

I can appreciate how much you would have loved to sleep in, consider this: Mayor O'Brien talked at length in his campaign and after taking office about revitalizing the volunteer program in the city. To that end, it is my understanding that there were well over 50 volunteers in action in the city this weekend.

What more needs to be said? The man delivered. Now I won't say, as I'm sure he wouldn't, that he did this alone. My kid, who was one of the volunteers said Cristie Hammond is very involved in the Volunteer program as well a several staff guys. I called the Mayor to thank him for getting this program traciton again. I asked him about the overtime and he said that the staff members traded a weekend day for a day off during the week. No overtime was paid. How about that?

Craig, I hope you get your rest this weekend. I also hope you stop by city hall on your way home tonight and sign up to volunteer sometime in the near future. It will do you and your family some good to realize that there are more beneficial ways to make a difference in your community than bitching about weedwackers on this web site.

The Voice of Jeff Fix

Craig - it's time for you to grow up and stop being the voice of Fix. For crying out loud, isn't there anything constructive you can say about anything? Thinking back to our days in ''the Club'' I seem to remember you and Mitch were friends. Now you find fault with everything he tries. Craig, Fix is just pouting because this is something he can't control. He tries to take over council and eliminate the mayor. Keep helping him and he will find a way to take over the VIP program.

Reality Anyone?

I'm amazed that a significant portion of the postings on this web site end up bedeviling me in some form or fashion. Some of these postings are rediculous while others are just plain stupid; and any that are not signed are cowardly. If you want to debate issues - let's debate them. Short of that, perhaps you could jump off the ''Fix is the Devil'' train and get a grip on reality.
