I understand that Jeff Fix is no longer doing any of the negotiating for the city with the township. Apparently our new Mayor has requested that only the interim Manager Tim Hanlsey and the law director be in these negotiations. This is a great step forward.
One would think that Fix would be tickled to have a very competent person leading the city's team with the township. He certainly gave Mr. Hansley rave reviews in an earlier posting.
So now Mr. Fix is in the process of finding ways to take away the power of the Mayor through the Rules committee. It seems to point out once again that this is not about having the best person represent the city and its best interests but about Jeff Fix's ego. He has had two years and he has come up with nothing. It is time to change.

JEDD going down
It seems that Mr. Fix and Mr. Keith Smith continue to work their way toward doing away with the City's Mayor. You know ''how to win friends and influence people.'' This is pure retaliation on Fix's part for the Mayor taking away his position of giving away the city to the township with this JEDD deal.
Speaking of the JEDD. I hear that the Lancaster Fairfield County Chamber of Commerce has passed a resolution in opposition to the Fairfield County five way JEDD. Hey!! Fix what the hell do they know? Right!! You're a big time business man go down there and tell them your stupid theories. Apparently they are not buying into your B.S. Maybe it was the property rights ''but specifically the way the damn thing was written''.
Just to editorialize some here it appears that our City's Mr. Fix is getting a little more than aggravated at its citizens commenting on his performance as councilman. In his two years in office he has done nothing but try to give away the city to the township while ignoring the real problems of the city's growing general fund shortfalls. In those two years he has tried to show that he has been at war with a couple of the trustees only to make campaign phone calls and write letters for said Violet Twp trustee. He has bought into a very poorly written JEDD agreement that would further damage the city's finances and now even the chamber who in most cases tries to stay apolitical has voted against his scheme.
Instead of working to solve the general fund budget shortfalls he has worked against the city and ignored the fast approaching crisis of bond defaults and or losing a significant number of Pickerington Police Officers to lay offs. Notice that he volunteered for the expense side of the finance sub-committees so he won't be labeled a tax increaser. WHAT A COWARD!!
Not only is Fix determined to undermine the city government by removing the power of the Mayor but he wants to take over as President of Council only to challenge the new Mayor directly. Ironically with the JEDD in the dumper the township is now trying to stick it to the city taxpayers with this joint parks board and require us city folks to pay more property taxes for parks that we already own. Just to keep the status quo we will need around 2 mils of property tax. If you all want that recreation center with indoor basketball courts and indoor swimming pools then you better figure on around 5 to 7 mils more. Like normal this will distract the city staff for months only to find no support and have the city spend a bunch of money to research it only to walk away later.
WHY IS FIX SO STUPID?
OR DOES HE CONTINUE TO STEP ON HIS EGO?
Either case he and Keith Smith are not good for the city's future.
