I hear G.W. the newly re-elected trustee who has not even been sworn in yet is running for a county office? Can anyone explain it to me? I am just a dumb voter.

You're no dummy
Wetlich was pi$$ed off and personally afronted by comments Judy Shupe made regarding his promoting the JEDD agreement as far as he had virtually assuring the county could and would provide whatever infrastructure he negotiated on their behalf just like he is doing for all the other partners in the agreement. Problem is that he never consulted with them nor did he ever plan to or intend to. Ms. Shupe called him out on it and he then told her he was filing petitions to run against her for Commissioner. Well guess what! Shupe has been a commissioner for nearly 16 years. She has tamed tougher bullies than good old Gary throughout her elections. By You're no dummy |

Correct me if I'm wrong
I hear there have been county representatives/ officials at some or all of these JEDD meetings. Have there been ''other'' meetings the county wasn't privy to? I don't think it's much of a secret that the county has big debt from their sewer/water facilities with the few customers they have. The hospital will or should be a big user. Who did the county think would provide services to this area? Certainly not Pickerington for sewer or water. What are Canal's sewer/water capacity and capabilities? What does the 208 plan call for? Is the county/JEDD going to stick to that plan? Or is that another failed plan? By But be positive--Splain it to me |

Hospital in CEDA area
These JEDD talks have been going on for months now and the county was first invited into them about four weeks ago. I am with Judy Shupe on this one because the trustees are risking the investments of the county water and sewer departments with a document that could force the county to act when that action may not be in the best interests of the county and install water or sewer lines in out of the way places. The county does have lines in the CEDA area and much of those lines are sitting idle with no customers. So in the long run the county water and sewer users will be asked or forced to pay any debt required to expand plants or extend lines even though it may not be in the best interests of all of the parties. Then the Hospital. Folks this in NOT a hospital. It is a glorified emergency room. Yes it will be open 24/7 but it will be limited to emergency care. The City of Pickerington will supply the water and the Village of Canal Winchester will provide the sewer service. This is also confirmed in the 208 plan. I also read where this may be yet another site for a new Violet Township Fire station. The 208 plan has not failed. It is fully enforceable by the parties involved. Those parties being Fairfield Utilities, Pickerington and Canal. Clearly this JEDD agreement is a document that merely prevents the cities from annexing parts of the township. The JEDD area as I understand it is a mile on either side of US 33. I think the area in dispute by the County is in the US 33 and Allen Road area. There are other areas like in Bloom Township that will be annexed by Carroll some day and these guys in these meetings are trying to have a power grab. Please also note that Greenfield Township and Carroll were not in the talks either but they will have a lot to say some day when they realize what is being discussed. Mostly this will more than likely result in a law suit and by this agreement the five parties must ?“resist?” towns like Carroll from annexing into this JEDD area. That means you all will pay attorneys money to wage a court battle for years and it is in areas that Canal, Lancaster and Pickerington would never have any interests in the next 90 years. JUst more subsidizing of the townships. If Weltlich would run and defeat Judy Shupe in the primary then great we could elect a Democrat as commissioner. |
