Gary just resign

Posted in: PATA
I read in the paper yesterday that Gary Weltlich did indeed file to run for County Commissioner against Judy Shupe. So the first point is that it makes the rumor on this web site started last week as the truth.

The next issue is what is Mr. Weltlich's commitment to the local community? I haven't checked when he was sworn in but one could easily conclude that he was circulating his nominating petition for the county Commissioner primary race PRIOR to being sworn into the office he just was elected to.

Conducting a county wide campaign is a large undertaking for a person that has been running unopposed the last couple of times out. I don't buy the argument that he just was offended by Judy Shupe's comments and he decides at the last minute to run against her. Even if he has been salting away his salary like he says he has it will still cost upwards of $20,000 to run a successful campaign in a county wide race.

Then we should also question our trustee on his commitment to this JEDD agreement he has been pushing through the channels of local governments. By his own words he doesn't think it will receive the needed approvals by the five parties until late spring. Considering the fact that he has been the driving force of this ill-conceived document he will now try to side-step it and not be responsibly for seeing it through to the end.

Exactly how does Mr. Weltlich think he can help the local government and our citizens by being a county commissioner? Does he believe the rest of the county will sit by while he attempts to divert all of the capital budgets toward Violet Township? Do any of you believe that Gary Weltlich can convince the other two commissioners to put water and sewer lines down every rural road in Violet Township and commit to building the interchange at Allen Road ($50 Million commitment) to benefit a certain township family farm?

Once the county commits to providing water and sewer lines down those country roads and they are all zone residential look out for the housing boom of the century and our schools will be buried.

No thanks Gary I think we are just fine with Judy Shupe as county Commissioner and if you don't like your job at the township then RESIGN.
Mmmm?

Guess who would then be overseeing the money. Guess who would then be overseeing the JEDD.
Guess who would then be overseeing annexations.
Guess who doesn't have a mayor to control anymore.
Guess who doesn't have a council to control anymore.
Guess who doesn't have control Diley Road anymore.
Guess who will appoint the new trustee if he wins.
Guess who will still be a trustee if he fails.
Guess who Lancater will embrace.
Mmmmm?

He must obey the law

Commissioners have very little control on annexations. THEY MUST OBEY THE LAW.

Once the JEDD board is formed Gary and they meet the trustee have no control over h ow they vote or the money they have. The three cities involved will only have ONE representative on the board. The two townships will only have ONE rep on the JEDD baord.

The rest of your guess who's I guess we will need to wait and see.
Is that right?

Mmmph. The annexation laws in many cases are arbitrary enough to allow for interpretation. Single owner annexations may be easier to understand, but multiple owner annexatiuons are still ambiguous. The ability to provide services is another area of vagueness.

The money issue was not one of just the JEDD area, but all of county money. Sewer lines, water lines, enforcements services, all come into play. I am not saying this is a good or a bad thing, just for contemplating.

Didn't Elsea run against Kiger? But who knows how the party will react. It is a big old guess who.
