Spot needs filled on Pickerington's education board

PICKERINGTON - The Pickerington Board of Education is accepting applications to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of board member Gail Oakes.

Oakes gave the board her resignation during Tuesday's meeting because she recently sold her home.

Individuals who are interested in being considered for the position have until April 25 to submit an application, which is available online at www.pickerington.k12.oh.us.

Completed applications should be sent to Pickerington Local Schools, 777 Long Road, Pickerington, OH 43147.

Aww, shucks....

I did give the idea some thought. The problem is I had to change jobs at my company to a rotating shift. This was in order to gain some net pay to handle things like pay-to-play, the many other school fees and my school taxes. Whatever is left over I will put into my gas tank. My car is now about 12 years old, doesn't get good gas mileage but hey, it's finally paid off.

Anyway, sacrifices had to be made and I gave up evenings once in a while. I can't be sure I would be able to go to all the meetings wo I'll let someone who can meet the commitment take a shot.

Besides, you know the way I tend to rub people the wrong way. I lay finger to keyboard or run my mouth a little too quickly to be in a position like that. Also, one of the new board members is a neighbor of mine and people might get the wrong idea.

So Brian and Jeff, sorry if I irritated you. Go back to your healthy debate and I'll again fade out.
