Police State coming

First; let me thank the person that posted the Chillicothe Gazette articles on these red light cameras. I would think the public comments (record numbers for any Gazette article) should be required reading for members of the Pickerington Council.

The fools down there signed a five year contract with no escape clause.

Apparently if you have an issue with a received ticket then your only recourse is in writing a letter to REDFLEX in Arizona. Before your recourse is even considered you must pay the tickets again. Once they have you for $180 bucks this for profit company is going to resist to return your money or admit to a mistake.

It only tickets the owner of the car.

I believe that at least the Violet Fire department can change the traffic signal as they approach it during a run. This seems that it would change the ?“expected?” timing of the light and the camera would not see the vehicle. The fact is that a number of the runs going north come out of the Refugee fire station and those folks going north or south on 256 may find themselves in no man?’s land because a fire vehicle changing the light timing.

The city council wants to put these cameras in the 256 corridor which is our business district. Have any of these Einstein?’s that voted for these cameras thought anything about the negative affect it might have on Pickerington businesses if the folks get tickets out of the blue?

I will find other places to spend my money if these cameras go in and I get a ticket. These cameras will be easy to avoid and that is by going some place else to shop.

Where do they take the picture?

How do these cameras determine when a car is through the intersection? If they are pointing down from say 12 feet up on a pole the picture would not clearly indicate when a car had cleared the intersection unless they place a line on the roadway or have some other measuring device to clearly determine where the car is when the picture is snapped.

Also if these cameras are not motion picture type cameras and they take a frame say every second then a car doing the speed limit probably is moving around 73 feet in that second. It may not determine whether they are in the intersection or not.
