I am going to do some research. Am going to call all the local providers, compare apples to apples, by that meaning the same size containers, pick up days, prices etc. and post the info here.
Secondly, there has been discussion of choice. The township dynamics are different, in my opinion, than the city in some ways. The larger farms and 5-10-20 acre parcels make it differ, I'm assuming at this point that it might be difficult to guarantee a rate with fewer pickups due to longer travel from stop to stop. Time equals salsries. Lenghth equals gas and wear and tear on equipment. Farm needs may be different for disposal products than residential or subdivision needs. Again, just don't know for sure. So, different providers may be needed.
So, to answer Six Wheels question, am I for choice? I would have to say yes.
Regardng price, I try not to be foolish with my money. Hence, I will do some research and post my findings here. The Dispatch article was an eye opener for me in many ways.
Since, and I believe this is clear, the city gets a better rate probably because they are more subdivision developed than the township, could our elected trustees not appraoch the city and ask to have Summerfield, Eastchester, Woodsfield, Malllard Pond, etc. to be considered for the same rate? If the city uses Waste Management as sole provider and offers that rate to the subdivisions in the township that would be cost effective for WM, they would more than likely have alot of customers change to their service. Maybe some would switch, who knows. As it stands they will probably lose some to Republic or Local Services as others here have indicated have lower prices, but knowing can size/pick up details need to be determined for a direct comparison.
Lastly, I do not check thie site everyday. So if you expect an answer the same day Six, it won't happen. So check back and I'll get around to it.
I support choice, better prices, our trustees to fight for better rates more than once every 12 years. And hopefully a rate as good as the city gets!
