The Pickerington Board of Education voted Monday to rehire the district?’s former treasurer just a month after he resigned.
Vince Utterback will become the district?’s business and facilities manager starting Aug. 1. In March, he announced his resignation as the district?’s treasurer to become director of business affairs and operations for Kent State University.
Superintendent Karen Mantia told the board she sought out Utterback for the post.
?“He has a lot of experience, he holds a business manager?’s license and he has wonderful experience,?” Mantia said. ?“The most important thing is he can walk right in the door and understand where Pickerington has been and where we need to go.?”
Utterback spent 14 years with the school district, starting as assistant treasurer. As treasurer, he was to be paid $87,000, plus $17,000 a year into an annuity, in 2008.
In his new position, he will earn $84,872 a year. The board approved a contract through July 31, 2010.
According to district spokeswoman Amanda Morris, Utterback will not receive any kind of annuity or extra compensation beyond his salary as business manager.
