do nothing council

I see Fix has now has lead the council down yet another dead-end street. Using his ''in the pocket'' members of council and his lack of original thinking he finds himself at the end of going over the cliff once more. Faced with an issue around his neck and his re-election coming up this year he blinked once more. By now his eyes are getting very watery. Some might see that as crying like a baby.

I had to go online to find the ''This Week'' article on the red light cameras. It is interesting that Brian Sauer didn't change his vote on the cameras. Brian; the police Chief removed his support so what are you pushing? It also didn't say why he still supports denying the folks their due process in traffic offenses. Clearly I think he is still focused on the (possible) money that these cameras might generate.

I am rapidly losing respect for this entire council and their lack of focus. The fact is the city needs to address the revenue short falls coming soon and not just kick the can down the road until it is not an election year. They are so worried about their sorry butts getting re-elected that they are frozen in time until next year when they don't have to worry about an election. By then; avoiding police department cuts will be too late. I am told that the police union contract is being re-negotiated this year. When will that dawn on our council? What is scary is what will be their platform for re-election? What have they done over the last four years? What can they take credit for? Do they really desire to be re-elected?

I think the exaggerations will flow like rum this year. Get ready for some real lies coming from this bunch. They desperately want to project a city in good shape and not under financial stress but most will notice that they have cancelled the fourth of July celebration. Probably by then they will realize that they must cut the PPD. What is their solutions and when will they address the problems they are faced with and not sweep them under the carpet?

I think there is a need for some new people to step forward and run for council. I think the current group chemistry has turned to vinegar. I am encouraged that there were those in the community that were willing to run a referendum on the red light cameras. Maybe some of them will step forward. I think they might find more support than they realize.
