Sorry...
Sorry my posting wound up in front of the Thank You Jeff posting rather than after it. I'll take myself out to the curb, wait for the first trash company to show up and haul me away. If they show up after October 3rd, I may be there awhile according to the last poster. Now that's being a wise a_ _!

Its in the mail
I exchanged phone messages with Ed Drobina this afternoon. He says that Rumpke is sending out letters this week for sign ups to their service. He thought they would have arrived today but he is hopeful they will be in our mail boxes tomorrow.
The contents of this mailer will have all the information needed to sign up for the new trash pickup starting October 3rd.

Thanks Ted
It appears you and Fix are the only two who still visit this hopeless site. I think the rest of council and the mayor have given up on this wreck.
I do think you are not the only former councilman reading and posting here. I read through some of the comments the other day and was able to match them up with comments I read in the minutes of a meeting a while back. Makes me wonder if the candidates are lining up early.
I did talk to a friend who saw Fix at a game recently and he is sure he is a slam dunk for reelection. He said something like getting reelected was a no-brainer.
I certainly hope the voters of Pickerington do have brains and demonstrate that when the time cones. I think we have seen enough of Fix trying to take over the city.
It's interesting to see what goes aroung comes around. When I was reading through those minutes I spoke of above I was pretty disconcerted at what I am reading in the minutes of the Rules Committee for the last year or so. We need to be real careful about letting this load of malarkey get too far along before we step in and stop it.
So Ted, since you can't seem to get enough of living and breathing this site, what do you think about the changes being proposed by Fix and his pal Smith in Rules? Do you think it is right to simply dismiss a citizen's initiative without regard? I know you would rather pick and choose the topics you talk about here but I thought I'd throw this your way.
Can we afford to let our current form of government slip away by a Jeff Fix coup de'etat?
Can we afford to simply turn the operation of our government over to a person of such questionable character like Fix?

Better clean the garage now!!
Well 14 days and counting. Last week I received a post card type notice from Rumpke that said they would be picking up trash for the city. The card was disguised as junk mail. I am wondering how much that added to the current trash hauler's load? I dutifully mailed back my card requesting service from Rumpke. Ten days later nothing from Rumpke.
So if I get an invoice from them in the next few days will they have enough staff and the wherewithal to return it and post my account? I doubt it.
For those that scoff at rats in the city please be advised that two weeks ago I killed a rat the size of a softball six feet from my garage door. He ran under a pile of tree clippings that the neighbor had waiting for pickup. Not sure what else he may have been eating.
Picking up trash in the city is an important function of said city. Clearly if that city is going to rely on a private hauler then they must make sure that they have the coordination and cooperation of everyone involved. Clearly the city and the council has set some very high expectations for Rumpke and they only provided them with the bare minimum of time to fulfill their duties to the city residents. Clearly come October 3rd our city will be without trash pickup for the most part. Hopefully by Christmas they will have things ironed out.
