I am getting a little irritated with the parks department.
I wanted to take the family out this afternoon for a picnic lunch after going through the drive through. However for some reason our parks (Victory and Sycamore) no longer have picnic tables. The two shelter houses were rented or reserved and that was the only available tables.
The kids like to play on the playground at Victory Park and I find that is has been removed in the middle of summer Why would the city remove the equipment in the peak of the time it would be used?
I was going to not say anything about this but during the July 4th and the Heritage festival there was a band playing on Sunday evening on the 6th. I wish I could remember the name. However I think they were inappropriate for family viewing or listening. Their lyrics were filled with references to drug use ''getting stoned, weed and when my wife asked my what ''714'' was we got up and left after I told her). The city spends a ton of money over the years for the DARE program only to then hire some two bit band to make light of drug use. Drugs are illegal and they should not be part of what the public is paying to listen to. This band says it had played at PAPA BOO'S at Buckeye Lake. That sort of music may all right in a bar but not for a family audience.
